Following my ‘Painting in circles’ pieces I began thinking of different circular objects that I could work with. I was using paper plates to mix paint during my previous series of paintings. I initially chose the paper plate as I could cut the textured outer lip easily giving me a ring shape. I then got the idea of creating more ring shapes from the paper plate.  I wished to experiment with different materials and used the paper plate rings as a basic template to make circular forms in clay.
